Dr. Doris Ilda “Lucki” Allen

Life Legacy

In a Speech, CW3 Doris Ilda "Lucki" Allen PhD described her unique existence as "...a psycologist who does not read minds, a warrior and soldier who has never killed a soul, a writer (of prose and poetry), and a tactitian who helped catch high level spies." Born May 9th, 1927, In El Paso Texas to Richard Minor Allen Sr. and Stella May Davis-Allen, Dr. Lucki was 97 years young when she pased away peacefully in her sleep on June 11th, 2024. She lived a life full of exemplary service to God, the Army, City of refuge United Church of Christ and the blessed souls who crossed he path. She was a once-in- a lifetime woman, truly the part of the "Greatest Generation".

After earning a degree in physical education from Tuskegee Institute (later University). Dr. Lucki's professional career began in teaching prior to enlisting in the Women's Army Corps (WAC) in 1950. Lucki found her niche in the Army. A soldier at heart, she served with distinction for 30 years before retiring in 1980. She rose from the enlisted ranks to the rank of Cheif Warrant Officer 3 during a time when few women and even fewer women of color served. Her rank reflected her expertise and excellence in her area of specialty, Military Intelligence. 

CW3 Allen was a proven leader whose biography could fill volumes! Inquiring minds can learn more about her by listening to one of her online oral histories, particularly her Library of Congress personal narrative. Her descriptions of her lived experiences interspersee with her special brand of insight, wit, and humor are fascinating.

To process her experiences in Vietnamn War, In 2014 Dr. Lucki published a collection of poems and prose titles Three Days past Yesterday: A Black Woman's Journey Through Incredibility. He r Biography included in several books and numerous publications, to include African American Women Leaders: From the Underground  to the White House by Dr. Florence Alexander and a Piece of My Heart.: The Stories of 26 women who served in Vietnam by Jeith Walker. Although she was prud of her impact in the military, she took greater pride in her global impact after retiement. She was very actve as a church Mother for City of refuge in Tijjuana Mexico and elder of the Mother of Peace Orphanage in Zimbabwe. She mentored many and considered giving back to the world to be her personal ministry. She was a life member of the VVA [Vietnam Veterans of America], DAV [Disabled American, National Association of Black Military Women, a Charter member of WIMSA [Women in Miilitary service fror America, and a lifetime acheiver of I AM WOC [ International Association of Military Women of Color].

Dr. Lucki was preceded in death by her parents and treasured siblings Richard, Robert, and Jewel. Although she did not give birth to any biological children, she welcomed the masses into her loving arms. For more than 50 years, her former home on 7909 Outlook Avenue was always filled with family, great food, immense love, and fun. Many pool parties, and good times. Her extensive family included her "adopted' children, Roy Mosley, Diane Wasnak, Hattie Topps and grandson Chadrick Jones. She also is mourned by cousin Phyllis Stine, and neices and nephews Yolanda allen, Aissa Allen, Priscilla Smith, Briana Pace-Marfizo, Paige Black, Augustine Torres, Chanta Payne, Richard Payne lll and Latoyaka Merritt. Lucki never met a stranger, and leaves a host of extended family memebers, friends, church family, military comrades and mentees who delighted in hearing her fantastic stories, spending time with her, becoming enveloped by her love, learning from her vast knowledge, and basking in her electrifying energy. Rest in Paradise, good and faithful servant...WELL DONE!
