Donna Rae Primrose

We are saddened to announce the passing of Donna Primrose on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, following a strong and courageous month-long battle where she fought fiercely against a sudden decline in her heart and kidney health.

Donna was the beloved wife of the late George Dean Primrose Sr. and the devoted mother of Lynda Bowman and the late George Dean Primrose Jr. who preceded her in death. She was also the loving grandmother of Christine Norton, the wonderful great-grandmother of Eric Rezendes and Maximus Norton and the cherished best friend of Sharon and Leroy Paiva and Nana to many. In addition to her husband and son, she was preceded in death by her dear brother, John Chapman, and her loving mother, Dorothy Chapman.

Born in Oakland, Donna was a lifelong resident of Alameda County, she grew up in Washington Manor in San Leandro and graduated from Arroyo High School in San Lorenzo. Donna and George bought their forever home in Union City in 1972 which became the heart of the family where four generations grew up together.

In 1978, she began a dedicated banking career with Bank of the West (formerly Central Bank, now BMO), at the Washington Manor Branch where she met and made many lifelong, treasured friendships that have lasted decades.

Donna’s greatest joy was spending time with her family. She loved the simple pleasures of life like playing cards, visiting casinos, listening to music, going to the movies, bingo, watching her favorite shows and napping with her cat Dash. She was known for her generous spirit and was deeply caring, thoughtful and kind to everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

She will be profoundly missed but forever remembered in the hearts of her family and friends.
