Donald E. Johnson entered peacefully into rest in Fremont, CA on August 31, 2017.  He was 85 years old.
 

Born in Sacramento, CA on February 26, 1932, Donald was one of three children blessed to Frank and Lillian Johnson.  He graduated in 1951 from Oakland Tech High School. Proudly having served his country in the U.S. Marines, Donald was decorated for his contributions in the Korean Conflict. His recognition included Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Sharp Shooter Medal, United Nations Service Medal and the 5th Korean Presidential Unit Citation. Donald enjoyed a successful career with Western Electric, retiring after 27 years.  He was a UFO enthusiast and a longtime Oakland A’s fan.  In his free time, Donald enjoyed listening to the police scanner and taking his dog, Koda, to lunch.  He was a devoted father, grandfather and great grandfather who will be deeply missed.
 

Donald is survived by his children, Donna Drawdy and David Johnson;siblings, Norman Johnson and Marilyn Johnson; grandchildren, Rene Drawdy, David Drawdy, Meagan Johnson and Mary Johnson; great grandchildren, Lynette Drawdy, David Drawdy and Amelia Drawdy; many cherished extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Rachelle Drawdy.

Family and friends are invited to gather for graveside services with military honors at 1130 am on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery, 5810 Midway Road, Sacramento, CA 95620.
