IN LOVING MEMORY OF DONALD AIKEN MATTISON, JR.

It is with tremendous sadness that we share the passing of Donald Mattison, Jr.  Don passed away unexpectedly on October 26, 2022, at home in Pleasanton, California. 

Don was born in San Jose, California on February 16, 1962.  He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1980, and from San Jose State University in 1997.  He worked for Longs Drugs in Mountain View as a young adult and became a Reserve Police Officer for Foster City Police Department around that same time. Shortly after, he met the love of his life, Janine, in October 1989, whom he married in 1995. Don began his career with the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office on May 2, 1994, as a Sheriff’s Recruit and became a Deputy Sheriff on October 2, 1994. Don was promoted to Sergeant on March 3, 2002, Lieutenant on July 13, 2008, and Captain on November 24, 2013. Captain Mattison worked at Santa Rita Jail, Bailiff’s and Marshals, Court Services, Glenn Dyer Jail, Records/Warrants and Dispatch, Marshals North County, and Sheriff’s Administration during his career. Don had a tremendous love for law enforcement and was very active in state and local law enforcement labor unions.  He was very proud to be a member of the Sheriff’s Office. His work ethic and great attitude made him special to those fortunate enough to be in his presence; Don will be greatly missed.

Don was an avid reader, a lover of sports, and a Disney aficionado. He cherished traveling with family (especially to Tahoe), premium IPA’s, special times with friends, and his faithful dog, Indy.

Donnie, as he was affectionately called, is survived by his wife of 27 years, Janine Mattison; his daughters Noelle and Rachel;  his mother, Jacqueline Mattison; his step-mother, Sandy Mattison; his sister, Katlheen Wooster; and his brother, Aaron Mattison. Don was predeceased by his father, Donald A. Mattison.  Don also was very close to and survived by his sister-in-law, Michelle Rozario-Schrum and her husband, Ken Schrum, and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held on November 10, 2022 at 10:30am at CrossWinds Church located at 1660 Freisman Road in Livermore, California. A reception and celebration of life will follow after at The Martinelli Event Center located at 3585 Greenville Road in Livermore, California.
