Derrick Watts was born to the late Kevin Watts, Sr., and Mashawn Amey on March 27, 1994, in Oakland, CA. Derrick attended schools throughout Hayward where he enjoyed learning, making friends and preparing himself for adult life.   Derrick experienced immense joy when his only child, a daughter Aniyah Watts was born. Spending time with Aniyah was his greatest desire.   Derrick was employed by FoodMaxx in San Leandro for 12 years holding various positions and titles prior to stepping into management. He was friendly, knowledgeable, and dedicated which gained him the respect of his colleagues. In addition, Derrick was professional and a man of the people, which endeared him to customers as well. His family and friends would refer to him as “Happy.”   Derrick departed this life unexpectedly on June 25, 2024, leaving an incredibly painful space that was once filled with his love, humor, candor, and spirit. Derrick was preceded in death by his father, Kevin Watts, Sr. He leaves to cherish his memory: his mother, Mashawn Amey; daughter, Aniyah Watts; brother Kevin Watts, Jr.; sister Patricia Watts; as well as a host of as well as a host of aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews.
