David Richard Mallia August 19, 1962 – January 18, 2025 David Richard Mallia was born on August 19, 1962 in San Francisco, California to Benjamin and Dorothy Mallia. In 1965, the family moved to Alameda, California where David attended Donald D. Lum Elementary School, Will C. Wood Middle School and Encinal High School, graduating in June 1980. He was a long-time member of the Alameda Swim Team, swam for Encinal High School and enjoyed time with the Alameda Sea Scouts. After graduation, David attended automotive repair course classes at College of Alameda before settling in to a full time job at Darryl Henry Distributing Co. in the snack food distribution business. He continued on in this line of work, working for Dave Ferreira Distributing Co. for 16 years and then purchasing Chris & Tom’s Distributing Co. continuing as owner of his successful business for 19 years until illness forced him to sell out. He met his future wife, Margaret (Margie) Harris, at a Christmas party in 1981, and they married on August 28, 1982 in Alameda at the Chapel at the Alameda Naval Air Station. Above all, David treasured his family and time spent at home and short family trips. David loved life, work, tinkering on cars, repairing anything that broke, gardening, camping, playing pool, casino trips, holidays, fireworks, politics, sharing his opinions, and Budweiser.
David is survived by his lifelong love and wife of 42 years, Margie; his children Gregory (Megan), Brian (Stefani), and Jennifer (Jimmy); his grandchildren Giorgia, Owen, Zach, Noah, Michael, David, Ava, Anthony, Daniel, Zeevah, Henry, Violet, and Mavis: sisters Teresa (Tom) McDaniels, Mary Ann (Tom) Flemming, and Brenda (Rick); nephews Dennis and Scott McDaniels, Michael Flemming, and nieces Sara (Mike) Wallis, and Emily Flemming.
