Charles Peter Eriksen

September 11, 1939 - November 14, 2017

Life Legacy

Charles Peter Ericksen, affectionately known as Chuck and Sarge, was born to his proud parents, Ethelyn Eriksen-Wright (nee Shepard) and Frithjaf Eriksen on September 11, 1939 in San Pedro, CA.as one of four children.

He attended Port Angeles High School in Port Angeles, WA.

After high school, Chuck enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served from 1960-1962, during which time he was stationed in Vietnam.

Upon faithfully serving his country and being honorably discharged, Sarge met and married Jane Wrigglesworth and to this union were born two daughters: Debbie and Tamara Eriksen.

He worked for, and retired from, Chevron after thirty-five years of dedicated service.

Although Chuck was a man who believed in working and doing things the right way, he also took time to enjoy life and this is never more evident than in the many hobbies/interests he had. They included, but were not limited to swimming, gardening, spending time with family and friends and church. He was a member of the Oakland Evangelical Free Church where he was a member for over 40 years (until they closed). He then faithfully attended church at 3 Crosses in Castro Valley.

In addition to his hobbies, he was affliliated with places that were not only near to his heart, but allowed him to continue to show his love for the United States of America; even after having given his all for all of us earlier in his life. He was part of the Marine Corps League, 1st Lt. Frank Reasoner Detachment #919 and The American Legion. He was proud to be a Marine and was very involved in his Marine League Detachment.

On Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at 0221 hours, Lance Corporal (E-3) Charles Peter Eriksen received reporting instructions from the Eternal Commander-in-Chief who saw fit to bring his faithful soldier to the place where he shall study war no more. He leaves to mourn his passing his devoted wife of fifty-four years, Jane Eriksen, daughters Debbie Payne (Darryl) and Tamara Judd (Jeff); one granddaughter, Mary Payne; siblings: Darrell (Jean), Ruby Nelson (Al), Elsie Stevenson (Roy), and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Surnames Nelson, Stevenson, Payne and Judd married into the Eriksen family.

Chuck was a great man who lived his life with honor and integrity. He loved God, his family and friends; his country and the Marine Corps. He was loved and respected by many for his kindness, thoughtfulness and his sense of humor.

If anyone would like to contribute to a memorial fund, we (the family) have chosen the Toys for Tots charity. This is something Chuck supported over the years.
