Brenda Joyce Silva, 82, passed away peacefully on the morning of 17, May 2022.  She was the widow of the love of her life Wilburt “Bud” Silva.  Together,  they shared 41 wonderful years of life and marriage.

She was born in the Bay Area to Mr. Lawrence & Mary Avila. She attended/graduated from San Lorenzo High, and she was employed 30+ years at Western Electric.

She had an amazing life; Grandma was a member of St. John the Baptist Church as faithful & devoted Catholic,  here she was the President of the Parent Teachers Group.  She enjoyed her time of being President of the San Leandro Garden Club & St. Gerards Women’s Club.  She was also a longtime member of the Telephone Pioneers of America.  Grandma had a love for collecting antiques and had an extensive Santa Clause collection that she was well known for.  During her life grandma was a huge advocate of volunteering and LOVED to travel with her beloved husband, Bud. These two were especially fond of cruises and visited many casinos with friends.  Grandma always embraced the chaos and crazy the holidays brought on, having all her family in her home spending time together, sharing love and laughter.

Brenda was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She is preceded in death by her parents, Mr. & Mrs. Avila, her husband Bud, her daughter Jodi, and granddaughter Allison.

Brenda is survived by her 5 children: Greg,  Gwen,  Geoff (Yvie),  Steve, & Jeff,  her 11 grandchildren & 16 great grandchildren.

Grandma had a sunshine smile;  she was a remarkable woman who brought love & happiness in everything she did.  She had such compassion, generosity, and loyalism to her, one look in her eyes and you could feel the joy she possessed.

The family would like to thank Velle Verde Homecare and Hope Hospice for their amazing love and care they showed her in her final days. They are truly grateful and could not have asked for anything more in a care team.

Rosary and Visitation will be on Monday May 23rd from 4:00PM-7:00PM at Grissom's Chapel and Mortuary located at 267 E. Lewelling Blvd. San Lorenzo, CA 94580

Funeral services will be held the following day, Tuesday May 24th at 10:30AM at St. John's Church located directly across the street from Grissom's.
