BJ “Bill” Boykin, 87 of Hayward, CA passed peacefully to heaven on September 27, 2021 at his home.

A celebration of life service will be held at 10:30 am Thursday, October 7, 2021 at Grissom’s Chapel, 267 E Lewelling Blvd, San Lorenzo, CA. Family will be officiating the service. Burial will follow at Chapel of the Chimes 1:30pm 32992 Mission Blvd., Hayward, CA  with Military Honors. 

BJ was born October 20, 1933 in Brooksville Mississippi to Bill and Willie Sue Boykin. He enlisted in the Marines; April 1955 received an honorable discharge April 1959. BJ then enlisted in the Navy April 1959 and received another honorable discharge April 1963. BJ worked for both General Motors and Nummi where he retired in 1994. He leaves behind a legacy of a hard worker who never missed a day of work.

BJ married his soul mate Gloria Mary Boykin who proceed him in death on May 13, 2021. His two daughters who proceed him in death Debra Ramirez and Rebecca Boykin. BJ is survived by his children John Ramirez, Cheri Smith and Barry Boykin, his loving grandchildren Matthew and Michael Atwater, Shaun Smith, Cherise Morris, Natisha Morris Boykin, Sarah and Anthony Ramirez and his great grandchildren Willow and Jeremiah Atwater, Kaleigh and Kenna Boykin and Josiah Peraza-Flores.

BJ was a kind and loving husband to his wife Gloria and an amazing father to his children. BJ loved to camp and deer hunt, which he gifted to his children and grandchildren. He was an advent deer hunter taking his children camping to deer hunt every year at Herrings Creek. The family had yearly road trips to Mississippi to visit family. BJ was such a kind beautiful soul never judged anyone; everyone who knew him loved him.
