Betty L. Moose entered into rest on July 15, 2022, at the age of 97.
Betty was born in Bethlehem, PA, on Februry 11, 1925, to parents John H. Kline (1972) and Edna M. (Hittinngerr) Kline (1922). She lived a very socially active life, dedicating her time to volunteering and activist work, as well as to taking care of her home and family. This is made evident in the numer of organizations she was affiliated with, including: being a founder of Ruby's Place and the Hayward Shoreline Advocates; serving on the boarrd of the San Lorenzo Unified School Distict - in which she served for 21 years; is a past-president of the Friends of the San Lornzo Library, San Lorenzo Heritage Society, San Lorenzo PTA, and Hayward Historical Society; and was an active member of the Church Women United, NOW, National Women’s Political Caucus, the Gray Panthers, and Senior Legislature. Betty has also volunteered for countless organizations, including Little League, Bobby Sox, Brownies, Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Fairmont Hospital, the Hayward Shoreline Planning Agency, the Hayward Area Recreation District, the Alameda County Sheriff’s Department, the Eden Area League of Women Voters, and the San Leandro Collaborative for Children, Youth, and Families. She was even awarded the John Sandoval Award in appreciation of her outstanding commitment to preserving the Hayward Area Shoreline and San Lorenzo Heritage. Betty was also lifelong faithful Lutheran.
Betty is survived by her children, James Moose (Sheila), Phillip (Karen Pritchard), Frank Moose (Eugene Nordio), Carl Moose, Claudia Moose (JoAnn Graham); her grandchildren, Grandchildren Matthew Moose (Katie), Joshua Moose (Cassie), Step Christopher Walter (Letetia), Phil Walter; and her great-grandchildren, Tabitha Watley-Moose, Josie Moose, Kora Moose, Emily Moose, Henry Moose, step Thomas Walter, Savannah Walter, Cooper Walter. She is preceeded in death by her husband of 61 years Clause C. Moose (2007), her son Richard Moose (1953), and her siblings Neal “Jack” Kline (2011), Paul T. Kline (2019).
Care has been entrusted to Grissom's Mortuary.

Internment: August 15, 2022 , 1:30pm San Joaquin National Cemetery
