Life Legacy

Ann (nee Nevin) Petersen passed away on May 4, 2025 to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was born August 7, 1937 in Mexico City, Mexico, to her parents, Thomas (Jack) and Gertrude (nee Cox) Nevin, who preceded her in death.

While attending the University of New Mexico, she met the love of her life, Norman Petersen, whom she married August 24, 1956, in Mexico City. Along with her husband, she leaves her children, Rick (Carol) Petersen, Bob (Colleen) Petersen, Anita (Brian) Zenger, and David Petersen as well as eleven grandchildren, Jeremy (Julie) Petersen, Chris (Megan) Petersen, Rebekah Petersen, B Petersen, Patrick Petersen, Kevin Petersen, Brenden (Rebecca) Petersen, Liam (Alice) Petersen, Jessica (Tom) Duffy, Kelli (Steve) Maxey, and Jamie (Peter) Byrnes. She also leaves fourteen great-grandchildren. Ann was preceded in death by her son, Tommy Petersen, and brothers John and David Nevin.

Ann was a loving wife and an incredible mother. As the wife of a naval officer, she moved from coast to coast setting up a wonderful home with each move. She faithfully cared for her son, David, who was deaf and intellectually disabled, taking him to hospitals and specialized schools multiple times a week.

Ann had an amazing talent for art. While able to paint in multiple mediums, she especially honed her skills in watercolors and would paint from what she had seen on her numerous around the world cruises with her husband. She was also well known for her skills as a seamstress and needlepoint artist for which she would make special clothing and gifts for her children and grandchildren.

Later in life she was thankful for the ladies in her Bible study who shared God’s Word with her and would go out of their way to meet with her, even when her health began to deteriorate.

She will be missed by all she touched with her life.

Ann Petersen’s Celebration of Life will be held at Valley Bible Church at the Altamont (6751 Southfront Rd., Livermore CA 94551) on June 4, 2025, at 2:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the American Cancer Society in honor of Ann Petersen, www.donate.cancer.org.
