Ann Eleanor Morgia Rodriguez (Eleanor) passed away on July 25, 2021. Her final days were spent surrounded by the family and friends she loved so much. Eleanor was born on June 3, 1948 in Oakland, California. She was the third child blessed to Fred Ayco Morgia and Raquel Padilla Morgia. She was raised in the Brookfield Village area of East Oakland in a home built by her father and family. She graduated from Castlemont High School in 1965 and married Michael Angel Esquivel, Sr. at St. Elizabeth’s Church in Oakland in 1968. They welcomed three children Michael Angel Esquivel, Jr., Marco Antonio Esquivel, and Miste Sherene Esquivel.

She met her life partner Abelardo Rodriguez (Abe) over forty years ago and they wed in 1998. Their time together was spent in Santa Clara County, most recently in Mountain View. She was an active member of St. Martin’s parish. She was an avid pool and dart player, who was loved by her family and friends far and wide.

She and Abe loved and cared for many fur babies; particularly Buddy and Loca. She is survived by their dog Lucky.

She was noted for her dear friendships and positive outlook on life and will be deeply missed. She had bright eyes and was welcoming to all. She was especially brave in her battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. She would always say “It’s just another bump in the road.” She felt abundantly blessed especially the last two years of her life and thought she gained more than she was losing.

Eleanor is survived by her husband Abe, her children Michael (Lesley Esquivel), Marco, Miste (Gil Lucero), her step children, Donnie and Cyndi Rodriguez, her siblings Erlinda (Romero Miraflor), Fred (Beverly Balee), and siblings by heart David Shields (Susan), Julie (Shields) Herrera (Adano Herrera); grandchildren Symone Justina Jackson, Kailani Marie Griego, Marco Antonio Jr, Zoe Olivia and Lexi Michelle Esquivel, Destanie, Ricky, Donnie Jr, Izaac, and Deanna Rodriguez and many cherished extended family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents.
